The Strong Approximation Property and the Weak Bounded Approximation Property
We show that the strong approximation property (strong AP) (respectively, strong CAP) and the weak bounded approximation property (respectively, weak BCAP) are equivalent for every Banach space. This gives a negative answer to Oja’s conjecture. As a consequence, we show that each of the spaces c0 and `1 has a subspace which has the AP but fails to have the strong AP.

We study the weak bounded approximation property (weak BAP) of pairs and show that each of the spaces c0 and `1 has a subspace having the approximation property but failing the weak BAP.
متن کاملInequivalent measures of noncompactness
Two homogeneous measures of noncompactness β and γ on an infinite dimensional Banach space X are called “equivalent” if there exist positive constants b and c such that bβ(S) ≤ γ (S) ≤ cβ(S) for all bounded sets S ⊂ X . If such constants do not exist, the measures of noncompactness are “inequivalent.”Weask a foundational questionwhich apparently has not previously been considered: For what infi...
متن کاملon translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels
phatic communion is a cultural concept which differs across cultures. according to hofstede (2001), the u.s. tends to have individualistic culture; however, asian countries tend to have collectivistic cultures. these cultures view phatic communion differently. in individualistic cultures like u.s., phatic communion reflects speakers’ socio-cultural relationships in conversations. to see whether...
